If you do your searches throughout the workforce and job market, you’d notice them. They almost multiply on a daily basis. You wouldn’t notice them at a younger age, because you take for granted that it’s simple; someone offers a job, you take it, and it’s as simple as that. There’s another way around it, though, that makes it both convenient and difficult at the same time–
They’re called “temp services”. Corporations such as Manpower, Workbox, and other countless personnel staffing services fall under that category. You can both love and hate them.
What a “temp service” does is provide work both for an employer and an employee with the “temp service” serving as the bridge between the two. In essence, if you’re a potential employee, you’re actually employed by the “temp service” and not the ‘employer’ doing business with the service! That makes for easy work possibilities–hence the reason why there are so many different ‘services’ out there. Manpower stands as probably the highest-quality service available worldwide.
Temps are important for a few reasons. One, an employer doesn’t have to pay taxes or provide benefits for any temp. Usually the pay is smaller compared to any of their actual employees; so an employer actually saves money. Temps benefit as well with the simple fact that they can easily get work that can be done literally without a degree. The typical industries temp services deal with are industrial and some clerical (factory work, and some simple office work).
It’s not for everyone. It’s sometimes a hard life to live on a temp service. Because the truth is one other lovely advantage employers do like is the ability to drop any temp at a dime without having to deal with ‘firing’ or ‘letting go’ with severance pay or pension. When they’re done, they’re done. It makes it convenient.
Deal with temp services delicately. While they serve a purpose, you don’t want to work for them forever.
